Hiawatha version: 7.5
Operating System: Ubuntu 10.04

When I'm accessing my website I get promoted to download the file instead of getting the page I'm looking for. This starts after a while and seems to go away if I'm not accessing the page for a while. I'm also using php 5 and mysql 5.1.

I know this is not the best description of the problem but someone might be able to help.

The page you are requesting, is it a static file or a request to a CGI script?

It is a request for a php script so i guess it is a cgi.

Did you write the CGI script yourself or is it part of a CMS / framework. If so, what CMS / framework?

I ran into the problem running the latest version of myphpadmin but I have also experienced the problem with my own scripts. My own scripts are nothing fancy.

I noticed now that the error log is full of iawatha/error.cgi|ErrorHandler not found which probably is the problem. But I have no idea what this means.

Try removing the ErrorHandler option.

Is it this in the hiawatha.conf:
ErrorHandler = 404:/error.cgi

Yep, that's the one.
